Who
I'm Sam Mooney, an estate agent and web designer in the Aude in the south of France. I live in a tiny house at Domneuve, a wine domaine near Montlaur, a wine producing village in the Corbières.
I'm Canadian and moved to the Aude in the spring of 2002.
When
In the spring of 1999, I was doing the "what would I do if I won a million dollars?" thing. As always, the answer was "buy a house in France". But ... I never buy lottery tickets. That does marginally lower the odds of winning.
Why
I decided it was time to start looking for that house in France. I started researching Languedoc and the Aude on the Internet. There was some information but it was all over the place. Sometimes I'd forget to bookmark a site and then not be able to find it again. In a way it was a blog before there were blogs.
What
Ode to Aude started as a personal site to contain my internet research about the Aude. Seven years ago when I started the site there wasn't a lot of information available about the Aude. Now there's a lot. Feast or famine, it's still hard to keep track of the information. I also used it to post my house hunting diary. Then it was the place that I advertised my house for rent.
Where
I sold the first house and bought a grower's cottage. Still in the Corbieres. Still renovating.
Enjoy the site. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see included.
